Biography
His first two productions on the Dutch label “Keynote” named “Muted Trax pt.1 and pt.2” were a success and got extremely good critics nationally and more important internationally.

End 2003 ‘Lost memories Pt.1’ was released on Technasia’s SINO label, and will be followed up by ‘Lost memories Pt.2’ may 2004 containing two killer tracks already been played by many.. [Clarke, Garnier, Deetron, Technasia… check the review in the next issue of Mixmag Magazine].
Next to the first two releases of our “Sound Architecture Records” label there will be new material released on Transmat, Keynote and his debut album on SINO [end of summer].

As a deejay Joris has been around for a while, spinning since 1997 in different clubs nationwide. Besides doing his ‘high energy’ live sets Joris loves dj’ing as well, playing a wide range of techno and house with his own remark. Never boring and always innovating because that’s his nature.

In 2004 Joris performed live at the famous Tresor Club in Berlin,Awakenings Festival in Amsterdam, The Loft in Barcelona and the Movement Festival in Detroit and Kozzmozz in Gent Belgium.

As his Alter ego Dark Science he produced "The real issue" on Sound Architecture records including remixes from Deetron and Alexander Kowalski.
His first release ‘Muted Trax pt 1' on Dutch label Keynote was well received and picked up on by the likes of Laurent Garnier and Carl Craig. He followed this success with his first release on Sino last December, ‘Lost Memories Pt.1' which caused a stir amongst the dance community and made Joris a recognised name.
If ‘Lost Memories Pt 1' suggested Joris was a true talent, then Pt 2 in the series confirmed it. The piano filled ‘Incident' charted in almost every dance magazine of worth, made No. 1 in Mixmag's Techno singles, was playlisted by John Peel and was championed by none other than Carl Cox.
Whilst the two 12's that have preceded ‘Future History' do feature in part on the album, do not fear. This is not just another compilation of tunes built for the dance floor and then stuck onto CD in the hope of making some extra cash. This is an album in the true sense of the word.
‘Future History' demonstrates Joris' talent as a musician and album crafter, along side his already proven skills as a techno producer. Trying to name standout tracks is not only made difficult by the sheer number of them, but is also missing the point.

Joris Voorn has made an album that draws on over three years work and seamlessly blends techno, breaks and electro into a 77minute soundscape that represents his coming of age. This young Dutchman has everything it takes to become huge and ‘Future History' could well be the album that takes him there.

Justin Martin: Justin Martin is one of the few house DJ’s that successfully bridges the gap between being commercially successful and staying true to the underground. Johnny Fiasco: Like German engineers craft fine automobiles, Chicago’s DJ’s pride themselves in their house music. Ripping up dance floors since the early 90’s golden era of Derrick Carter and Mark Farina, Johnny Fiasco’s now legendary Thursday nights at Shelter are held in the archives of house music history. Johnny's records are widely regarded as being some of the tightest tracks around. There's a depth, quality and complexity in his productions that make his house stand tall above the rest -- odds are that there's a Fiasco 12-inch sitting in every house aficionado's crate. Handling remix duties for Soulstice’s “Lovely” and releasing a international hit 12” on Om entitled “Things That go Bump in the Night”, as Darth Vader would say, the force is strong with this one.

From Brighton to Brazil, Southport to southern Japan, Bah Samba have been blazing a path across the globe for the last 11 years in the name of good music. The core members of Bah Samba are Julian Bendall (keyboards/co-writer/co-producer) Alice Russell (vocals/co-writer), Mark Ralph (guitar/co-producer) and Timmy Walker (bass guitar), who along with their own flawless musicianship skills have culled together a collective of talented musicians of whom they regularly work with, including Latin vocalist Isabel Fructuoso (Afro Angel, Mambana) and percussionist Satin Singh who has worked with the likes of Reel People, Pucho and Supergrass.

Joining the dots between old and new flavours brings together records from Jenny Burton (whose ‘Bad Habit' was used so effectively in Defected's own A.T.F.C. single), Salsoul Orchestra (another heavily sampled classic in ‘Take Some Time Out For Love'), Teddy Pendergrass (think DJ Sneak's Chicago House classic ‘You Can't Hide From Your Bud') and the prototype for Stardust's ‘Music Sounds Better With You' from Chaka Khan alongside newly created disco infused songs from Martin Solveig and Ron Hall & The MuthaFunkaz. Defected In The House - Dimitri From Paris - In The House Of Love

Highly regarded French DJ & producer Dimitri From Paris is in the mood for love as he takes you on a nostalgic journey spanning four decades of amour-themed grooves on this double CD mix (plus bonus unmixed CD) for Defected, 'In The House Of Love'. Dimitri has dug deep into his library with rare and re-edited disco & funk tunes blending craftily together with house of the 90s & up. Genres and periods are fused although the disco flavor is the domineering force behind this mix.

Disc 1 kicks off with Black Box's 1990 cover of Earth Wind & Fire's 'Fantasy', continues with the 1977 'La Vie En Rose' by the inimitable Grace Jones, the sultry vocals of soul siren Sylvia Robinson, and fares its way to the nu-jazz & funk escapades of the Stereo Mutants and Jafrosax. With its deliberate drippy pace this mix is best suited for double dates in dark lounges or couples staying warm near a fireplace.

The second disc sways less from the retro sound with groovy classics by the likes of the Originals, Cerrone and disco diva France Jolii. Modern day live house instrumental band, Tortured Soul is fused timelessly into the mix along with Peter Heller's whopping house classic 'Big Love'. A more lively mix than the first, Disc 2 emerges as the home dance-party favorite.

Other notable moments on each of the discs include DJ Genesis's 'Tonight', a rare version of the vintage hit 'The Look Of Love' by Elaine & Ellen, and the captivating voice of rising star Yukimi Nagano on 'Drawn to You'.

In The House of Love is a romantic historical mix, which could do with a little reduction on the retro to be more appealing to today's house & electronica fans. It will catch the ear of those who have been around long enough to remember when many of these tunes were new, or anyone who has the urge for disco heaven with shades of house, jazz, and funk dazzling the skies for the sake of love.

Layo & Bushwacka! - Feels Closer (2006)

Layo and Bushwacka! have finished recording their third album for release in March 2006. It is the follow up to 2002’s 100,000 selling Night Works LP, which spawned the top 10 anthem Love Story. The new album is entitled Feels Closer and was recorded in London , Brazil and New York.

Layo explains: “ Half the album is downtempo and laidback. It’s probably our warmest work to date, and features an array of fantastic singers and musicians, which is a new direction for us. Our recording in New York and Brazil was a major influence and is reflected in the variety of music on the album. We feel very connected with this work and where we want to be musically, and in our lives, hence the title Feels Closer”.

Feels Closer is to be released on Layo and Matthew’s very own Olmeto Records label.

The first single Life2Live features a guest vocal from the mighty Green Velvet and is aimed squarely at the dancefloor. It will be released at the end of January, with remixes from Loco Dice, Jesse Rose and Green Velvet himself.

Getting the ball rolling over the next few weeks are three very limited 12” singles from Layo and Bushwacka!, just 400 copies for the UK, featuring some tracks from the album and some special exclusive cuts.
